WHO AM I?
My name is Lindsay Yasinski-Eskagon, and I am an educator with a secondary English Language Arts specialty. I am also an aspiring educational researcher focusing on Indigenous Education, specifically on Indigenous identity. I am a teacher, a mother, an auntie, a writer and a feminist. I am Cree/Métis and of European descent, and my background as an Indigenous student with lived experience of racism and oppression has shaped who I am as an educator and the goals that I intend to achieve. I advocate for and try to make a difference for Indigenous children in the Canadian education system. In my practice, I work to decolonize the colonial aspects of the education system and create equity for Indigenous students. I weave Indigenous knowledge into my classroom pedagogy and am passionate about creating learning opportunities from an Indigenous perspective that can benefit all students.
I am an avid reader and enjoy the arts - theatre, dance and music and try to incorporate the arts into my classroom. I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family.
